The Merit Story

In 1981, Ron Berry (FCIP), Merit's president, along with Maria Berry (CIP, CPIB), vice-president, formed Merit Insurance Brokers Inc., based on a vision of providing extensive expertise and top-notch personal service to their clients. This vision, along with the dedication of several professional insurance brokers, quickly resulted in a substantial Toronto-based office where more than 25 brokers help clients make sound insurance choices.

A second location was added in Flamborough, Ontario in 1999 when Glen Smith joined Merit, bringing with him an additional area of insurance expertise: the ability to fully service the farm sector. The Farm, Equine and Country Estate sector now comprises a large part of Merit's business.

Today, Merit Insurance Brokers Inc. proudly provides insurance coverage for more than 10,000 clients through more than 40 different domestic and international insurance markets.
